Descriptive qualitative design is used to conduct this research. The focus types deixis which analyzed are: person dexis, place deixis and time deixis.The data used to complete this study is song lyrics of Justin Bieber in ‘Purpose Album.
The aims of this research is to analyze kind of deixis that used of Justin Bieber’s song lyrics in ‘Purpose Album and dominant deixis that used in this song. This research entitled Deixis in Justin Bieber’s Songs. In this research, personal types is the dominant types that occur in this story. The finding showed that the types of deixis like personal deixis, spatial deixis, and temporal deixis are used in The Legend of Lake Toba story. The steps to analyze the data are reading the story, finding the deixis, and classifying the types of deixis. Specifically using theory of Alan Cruse (2000) about deixis. The method of collecting the data is documentation. This paper uses descriptive qualitative method, because it analyzes the types of deixis found in the story. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the types of deixis found in the story of “The Legend of Lake Toba”. However, this relationship can be recognized through deixis. Pragmatics can be defined as the study of contextual meaning therefore there should be a relationship between language and the context. One of the fields that study the language is pragmatics. This means that language can be learned by the humans.
Language is more than a sign as it can function as a tool for communication among humans. The deixis in this film are dominated by personal deixis with 102 data. including personal, temporal, spatial, social, and discourse deixis. Based on data analysis, the researcher found 125 data that indicates the type of deixis. All of the sources taken on the Film I Leave My Heart in Lebanon. 4) Present the sample of the data that related to the study, the researcher will present the result of the research some of each category. 3) Analyzing the data which containing five types of deixis. 2) Categorizing the data into the types based on levinson theory who classified deixis into deixis persona, spatial, temporal, discourse, and social. This research is descriptive qualitative research.The data of this research was collected by analysis of the use of language spoken by the main character in the film I Leave My Heart in Lebanon, with the stages: 1) Organizing the data by collects of all the data in the movie that contains of deixis. This study aimed to describe the type of deixis on the main character in the film titled I Leave My Heart in Lebanon.
